The F. M. (Francis Marion) Roberston Notebooks, 1848, 1867-1868, n.d., consist of three items and one photocopy. The first item is the hand-written lecture notes on the topics of gynecology and obstetrics. His opening lecture for the academic cycle 1867 to 1868 announces the reorganization of the college and reflects on the founding of the college and its early faculty. The second item is an undated prescription book. The third item is an autograph book, dated 1848. The second and third items in this collection were formerly collection MSS 270. The lecture notebook was a gift of Thomas Heard Robertson, December 2005. The other two items were a gift of Henry Robertson.

Francis Marion Robertson was born in Abbeville District, South Carolina in 1807. After first attending West Point Military Academy for two years, he later entered the Medical College of South Carolina, from which he graduated in 1830. In 1845 he returned to Charleston from Augusta and resumed his medical practice. During the Civil War he served as surgeon in the 16th Regular Militia.
